Where Stationery Sits in the Trade City
The Yiwu International Trade City has around 75,000 booths across its districts. Stationery is concentrated in District 3, opened in 2005.
District 3, 1st floor
Writing instruments and ink supplies — ballpoint, gel and fountain pens, markers, highlighters, pencils — alongside paper products such as notebooks, pads and diaries.
District 3, 2nd floor
Office and study supplies: files and folders, desk organisers, sticky notes, calculators, school sets and art and craft materials.
4th floor direct sale
The upper floor of District 3 is a factory direct-sale centre with larger showrooms, useful when you need a manufacturer for private label rather than a booth reseller.
Open every working day
The market trades most days of the year, usually from morning to around 5 pm, and closes for a period around Chinese New Year. Plan orders around that closure.

Where Stationery Orders Go Wrong
None of these are exotic, and all of them are cheaper to prevent than to argue about.
The sample pen is not the production pen
Ink volume, refill length, barrel wall thickness and clip spring are the easy things to downgrade after the sample is approved. We write them into the order and check them at inspection, with a writing test on pulled units.
Printing is where timelines slip
Logo pad-printing, custom covers and printed boxes each need a proof, and each proof adds days. Artwork is approved before the deposit, not after, so the lead time you are quoted is the one you get.
Children and art materials have rules
Products designed for children face lead and chemical limits, and art materials sold in the US need ASTM D-4236 labelling. Tell us the destination market and we ask for the right test reports before production, not after the goods reach port.
Seasonal buyers order too late
Back-to-school and year-end ranges compete for the same factories. Count backwards from your selling date: sampling, production, inspection and sea freight, then add the Chinese New Year closure if it falls in between.
