Both belong to Alibaba Group, but they serve different buyers. Many importers use both, and we buy on both for our clients.

Can I buy from 1688 myself without an agent? expand_more
Some buyers do, but most 1688 sellers only accept Chinese payment methods, communicate in Chinese and deliver to addresses inside China. An agent covers those three gaps and checks the goods before they are shipped abroad, which is where most first-time problems happen.
How much do you charge for 1688 sourcing? expand_more
Searching, comparing sellers and quoting are free. When you place an order, our service fee is a percentage of the goods value — 10% under $5,000, 8% from $5,000 to $10,000, 5% from $10,000 to $20,000 and 3% above $20,000. The full rate card is on our Pricing page.

Not from us. Each 1688 seller sets its own minimum quantity. Because we buy from many sellers, we can often negotiate it down, and we can combine products from different sellers so a mixed order still makes sense.
How do I pay? expand_more
You pay us once for the whole list by bank transfer (T/T), PayPal or Western Union, and we pay every 1688 seller in RMB. You never need a Chinese bank account or Alipay.
Will I see the real 1688 price? expand_more
Yes. Your quote shows each seller's price as listed on 1688. Our fee is shown separately, so you always know what the goods cost and what our service costs.
